ArtHaus Board of Directors

Megan Torkelson

Megan is a 2005 graduate of Luther College where she studied Music and Education. She spent the last seven years in the Twin Cities, working for a regional nonprofit arts organization and completing her Masters in Arts and Cultural Management. She is thrilled to be back in Decorah and working in the Admissions Office at her alma mater. You can also find Megan singing with the Decorah Chorale; cooking and baking; and spending time with her husband, Ryan, and their two boys, Graham and Brendan.

“Being a part of ArtHaus and the ArtHaus board was one of the first things on my to-do list upon moving to Decorah. We are so lucky to live in a community that shows so much support and appreciation for the arts. ArtHaus knows how to balance programming to continue to provide classes and performances that we all know and love, but also push us into exploring new ideas and broaden our perspectives. I am excited to see what the future will bring for this vibrant little organization of ours!”

Vicki Berland

Vicki grew up in the Twin Cities and have lived in Decorah since 1973.  She and her husband, Larry, are blessed to have three sons and daughters-in-law and seven precious grandchildren with #8 due February, 2016! She considers herself semi-retired, while continuing to design and sell Bijoux Specialty Jewelry.

“I am one of original ArtHaus Board members, having been involved since its beginning, and my passion for its mission has grown over the years as I’ve had an intimate view of all that ArtHaus offers and the impact it has on our community.  ArtHaus’ fun and inspiring opportunities enhance the lives of people of all ages by inspiring creativity and self-expression, a strong contributor in making Decorah a vibrant, desirable ‘destination’ community.  My hope is that ArtHaus will continue to grow so that every child or adult has the opportunity to take advantage of how ArtHaus can help them be the best they can be!”

Carolyn Corbin

Carolyn loves Decorah, dogs, film making, her family and ArtHaus. Carolyn has a passion for workplace wellness and small community sustainability. Creative communities are more sustainable, that’s why ArtHaus is central to the economic wellness of the community of Decorah.

“I don’t want to live in a town without an ArtHaus. ArtHaus is at the heart of this creative community.”
