Outdoor workshop: Raku Pottery
Artist, Emillia Noordhoek, brings her experience firing Raku in Japan to the ArtHaus parking lot in her aRt-V. From 1-5 glaze a raku bowl, learn reduction glazing, see amazing colors and crackles take shape, and be able to drink tea from the cup you bring home. Class may run longer depending on weather.
Raku-yaki (楽焼), or Raku ware is a type of Japanese pottery that is traditionally and primarily used in the Japanese tea ceremony in Japan, most often in the form of tea bowls. Raku can be learned by those experienced in pottery or new to the medium and is a very experiential firing that takes all the participants working together to help create the art and the communal experience.
