Lucille Bjerke: Echoes of Nature

February-March Gallery Show

Born in Wisconsin, she went on to study art at Luther College under Orville Running. She then went on to earn her degree at University of Wisconsin and following her graduation became a teacher. Lucille taught English and art for 4 years, but was told she couldn’t work if she had children. She then quit her job as a teacher and adopted 2 children. Following this she owned and operated a gift shop in Wisconsin until her eventual retirement in 1995. After retiring she decided to spend her time working on her art more. Spending her winters in Arizona, along with taking art classes, she got back into her art.

The majority of Lucille’s art was created post her retirement in 1995. This show in particular comes from the past 4 years. Lucille’s pieces are most often abstract, being done in acrylic paint.
